Merdeka Touge

This was what we did on Merdeka morning - touge to Frasers! :)  Got the message pretty late the night before re the drive and hurried over to our faithful mechanic, Alex, to fix up our new toy - a carbing bar...
Which I've wanted for the longest time, which I finally got it, which I called, the 'Mcdonald bar'.  :p

The plan was, to meet at 7am for BKT (bak kut teh - pork soup dish) in Selayang or 8am in McD Centerpoint.  Naturally, we opted for the later.  How la to digest BKT at 7am in the morning??!
Arrived at McD 15 minutes late.  Overslept.  :p  The BKT group was late too.  So, just nice la... we chill a little at McD.  For those who did not have BKT, we had our breakfast here.  After breakfast, we set off.
The route: B.Utama - Kepong - Karak (Genting) - Gohtong Jaya - Ulu Yam - KKB - Frasers.  This time round, we have only 4 MRS and 1 VW Gti.  Suppose to have another 2 more MRS.  Unfortunately some unforeseen circumstances crops up.

That morning drive was a nice one.  :)  I wish I was the one at the wheel.  But with a new toy installed, the husband would wanna have a go at it first.  Test drive he said.  I am equally contented to be just the passenger that morning.  Enjoying the cool highland's air.
Up in Frasers, we pull over at a R&R for some teh tarik.
Future 'mat rempit' in training in a children's bike circuit nearby.
Observed father and son sharing an ice cream by the little pond.  Wonder will the son still share when he is all grown up.
Halfway thru teh tarik, it began to drizzle.
It finally stopped after about 45 minutes.
Bbrrr.... cold.
Pretty flowers.

There is only one narrow road up to Frasers and the route swapped every alternate hours.  One hour, it will be up traffic, next hour would be down traffic.  Like that la...  Very good for touge-ing.  No need to worry about oncoming traffic.
When we arrived at the guardhouse, it was 'up traffic' time.  We went to kill off some time with more caffeine at this quaint little eatery called 'Kedai Makan Kheng Yuen Lee'.  Pretty classic.  We were all pretty hungry  but chose to hang on for a little while more.
When we finally arrived in KKB, the hungry stomach were all worthwhile.  Lunch, though simple, it was simply delicious!
The old skillful chef cooking up a storm in his old fashion kitchen with his son (I think).
We had this - some fish & taufu dish.  Double thumbs up!
Also this - salted fish steamed with pork slices and taufu.  Triple thumbs up!  These two dishes were so yummy till I forgotten to even snap pictures of the other two dishes that came later. :p

That pretty much sums up our Merdeka Touge.  We arrived back in KL about 4pm ish.  Opsst... we forgot to sing the Negaraku!
