Day 4 - Sun Islands Boutique Villa & Uluwatu

After breakfast, we took a stroll along the infamous Kuta beach right behind our hotel. Here, even for a chair, u need to rent. So many vendors spread all over the beach - surfboard rental, beach chair rental, stools rental, ice cream stalls, softdrink stalls, manicure & pedicure services peddlars, anything at all. Just name it. The condition of the beach is just so-so to me. Let's put it this way, I think some part of our P.Dickson beach looks better.

(beginner surfer boys trying out their new hobby)

We checked out of Kuta Paradiso Hotel after lunch and checked into Sun Islands Boutique Villas for another 3 nights. We were rather dissappointed when we first arrived at its reception eventhough we were being served fruity cocktails. The reception area was very minimal; just a desk counter & a waiting area. After checking in, as we were being escorted to our villa, the earlier dissappointments slowly dissipated. The interior of the resort, from the reception onwards, was beautiful. Simple & beautiful. When we got to our Villa, no.18 (fatt ahh!), we totally forgotten the earlier dissappointments. Our villa was simply lovely.

(the compound of our villa)

We were upgraded from a Pool Villa to a Deluxe Pool Villa which we thought were a little too big for our taste. We still prefer the normal Pool Villa. When we checked out on our last day, we requested them to put a note in their system to not upgrade us next time but to throw in more spa sessions. hehehehehe

(Our room open to a little dipping pool)

(shiok right...?)

Other resorts/hotel will provide only breakfast. Over here, we were served tiny little quiche, sandwiches & cakes for afternoon tea too from 3:00 - 5:00pm. Afterall, TEA TIME is my favourite time of the day! How can this not be paradise?
(my java)

(pretty snacks... see also full already)
After our blissful afternoon tea, we met Dana at the reception and off we went to the last of our tour, Uluwatu. Ulu = End/Edge. Watu = Rock/Island. Uluwatu = End of island. It was a sight to behold. I was so mesmerized by what greeted me, that I spent quite some time there, sitting at the edge with my feet dangling down, absorbing all the beauty natures can offered. If only the weather were cooler, it would be a perfect reading place for me. Peaceful & beautiful. I felt so free there.
(it's a long way down... there is a cave down below. can you see it?)

(the other side of where I was standig. can you see the temple at the edge of the cliff?)

(there lor....)

(one for the album, of us together, at this wonderful place.)

We were each given a set of sarung & sash to be wore around our waist to cover our exposed legs at the entrance of the place. The reason for this is to be respectful to the a temple there. I forced Harrison to drap on one too eventhough it was not required of him (cause he was already wearing a long pants) just so that we will look matching matching in the photos mah... matching right?

(*imagine a cowboy music to go with this photo*)

(sun-stroked, that's why this photo...)

When we arrived there earlier, thanks to Dana, who had advised us to keep our sunglasses/spectacles, we didnt fall victim to the horrible monkey. Apparently these monkeys were trained by the villagers to snatch sunglasses/spectacles from tourist, and then bring it back to the villagers, in exchange for a banana. The tourist will need to pay a price to the villager to claim back their property. Cunning right? Poor Harrison have to walk blindly (without his specs) at some part of the place where these horrid monkeys would hang out (literally.. haha).

(Awaiting for sunset & the Kecak Dance to begin)

(trying to look cool in midst of boiling heat.)

(can u see the colloseum like open stage? there is where the Kecak dance was, facing the beautiful sunset as it was performed)

(Also means, we will be baking under the hot sun since it was facing directly to the sun. Look at the other tourist who sat facing the sun directly)

(the Kecak Dance performers getting ready for the performance)

(beautiful sunset)

(The shirt-less men in the photo were depicting a forest. Throughout the dance, they kept chanting 'cak cak cak'... it's unique. )

The Kecak Dance is a dance about Rama & Sita. Though there was nothing to shout about, the scenery/backdrop was breathtakingly fanstastic. The mood of the dance/atmosphere changes in accordance to how low the sun have set. Every sunset provides a different colour sky and emotion. It was really beautiful. No words can describe how beautiful it was. Only by being there yourself, you will be able to feel it.

(3 photos patched together to show you how beautiful the whole sunset scenery was)

I've taken the trouble to patch all the 5 photos which showing all the different stages of the sun setting, just so that you will be able to imagine better of what we seen. Honestly, I've seen many sunsets. But I've never really observed it sinked right at the end of the horizon. Never really have that kind of patience to sit under boiling heat and glaring sun just so to watch it set. If not for the packed like sardines tourist who filled every single seats in front of us, without leaving any gap for us to escape, we would have missed this. The experience were simply magical.
