Last weekend was our 4th trip to Ruby's Resort (mom's 2nd) and now, I am still longing to go back. She must have placed some voodoo dark magic to that place that makes us always wanting more after each trip.
This trip was great. Really really great. I actually spent all three days out by the beach! A feat actually compared to our previous records:
1st trip (2008) - It was raining all 3d/2n. Cats & dogs kinda rain. Walking thru puddles. Bundled up in sweater.
2nd trip (2009's Raya) - Slept throughout. Only wake to eat and release turtles. Before we knew it, it was already 3d/2n. :p
3rd trip (2010's CNY) - It was mahjong all 3d/2n. From morning to night to morning again. :p Didn't even remember there was a beach.
Not only did I hang-out by the beach this 4th trip, I actually woke up 6:30am on both mornings trying to catch the sunrise! And best part is, though it was a disappointment on that first morning, I love every minute of it.
It was overly cloudy that first morning. No traces of rays breaking thru at all. Most of the time, whenever one is at a beach, one will just scanned as far as one's eyes can see, conclude that there is nothing much to see and leave.
But that first morning, having no sunrise to catch and 1 hour to spare till breakfast is serve, Evie & I decided to go for a walk to explore the left stretch of the beach.
It never ceased to amaze me the many little wonders of life, wonders of mother nature. Pretty flowers in shades of purple landscaped the higher end of the beach, lapping sound of waves that relaxes the soul, salty fresh air that enter thru the nostrils and filled the lungs...
A little red rock that was washed ashore the night before has pattern of lines that tells it's story. Where had it been before this and which bigger formation it was originally from.
And sometimes, when the soul got too calm, it began to get bored and start tempering with mother nature. :p I collected the shell debris nearby to form that question mark for no apparent reason. Bored.
A hole where the crab live.
The sun finally broke thru when we were filling up our hungry tummies at the cafeteria after the long walk. We had Nasi Lemak that first morning while enjoying this breathtaking view. At that very moment, it reminded me of the many perfect movie sets we seen on tv.
I felt free and relaxed. The shimmering reflection were so pretty and somewhat calming. It really does feel like a paradise to me. Though I've never been to one, but if there really is a paradise, I am sure this will come quite close to it. At least this place makes me happy. Isn't that what a paradise does?
Well, my paradise was disrupted shortly with the emergence of this wild boar on the other side of where we were. It was just a tiny one. Juvenile still I think. It was happily grazing there till someone from our group decided to get a closer look. It jus shoot off into the shrubs again. :p Smart pig. I surely wouldn't mind a succulent BBQ wild boar on that night's menu. Hehehe...
We just couldn't resist it any longer and went straight into the sea for a dip after breakfast. I was never much of a 'sea-swimming' kind of person. But I SUPER LOVE that morning's dip. :) The waves were gentle. The sea were rather calm. It was so thereupedic to just sit there in the water, absorbing the morning sun, go with the motion of the gentle current. I could even do that kick around kind of swim of mine. :p
The ritual was like this - dip, sun, photography, dip, sun, photography... caught this yatch anchored faraway out in the sea with my under-used 55-250mm lens. How I wished it was mine. Then I could go play with the dolphins, turtles and sharks in their lair whenever I feel like it. I don't even need a bikini. Can just skinny dip!
I was sitting on the table by the beach and caught Sunshine peeping up at me. :) She is such a darling! So easy to handle. 100% obedient. Off-leashed.
That's Evie soaking up the morning sun and sea. Literally. Amazing isn't it?
Saw this beautiful crab soaking up too. Too lovely to consume, some said. Whenever it moved, we screamed. It must have heard enough scream to last him a lifetime that morning. Hahaha... I tell you, this 8-legged crustacean can really run lor... With a blink of an eye, it was already in the water.
That's the obnoxious Aunty Ruby, owner of Ruby's Resort, trying to act cute with a PEACE sign. :)
That's my mom and her Million walking down to the beach to join us. She brought with her my 'big book of Sudoku' too.
And her yoga pose - the sun salutation.
This beagles belongs to another fellow member is so lovely. Not sure this one is the girl/boy, whatever it is, they both looked equally lovely. So clean and crisp like that. I thought... "Hmm... I can live with a beagle!"... *Slapped*Not enough SHITS from 4 dogs?!?*
As usual, we must head down to Hai Peng for coffee. Yes, a must. Kemaman's famous kopitiam afterall. Oh, I forgot to mentioned that we went for stuffed crabs too on the first day we arrived and I met a friend of mine who is also from Kluang. Met her again when we were in Hai Peng. I must tell you this... "Kluangites ROCKs!"
This Ah Pek here is the founder of Hai Peng. Nowadays, he no longer have to make coffee or man the kopitiam. He already passed his kungfu to his descendent. All he left to do now is just to watch traffic passing by.
Me, had a go at the newly set up hammock. Nice.
Lovely big leafy plants with little white flowers lined the corridors. I made Aminah (super staff in Ruby's Resort) dug some for me to bring home. They are now in my garden too!
There is even a petting farm in the resort. Rabbits, cats, goose and of course, dogs too... I've never fail to tease Aunty Ruby... "Aunty, so your rabbits lay enough babies to feed your cats?"or "Your cats lay enough kittens to feed your dogs?" :p
Love this two photos. I thought they both look so... erm... loyal. Typically "Man's best friend!"
Harrison digging a hole while Sunshine look on.
We buried Sunshine in the hole and she just stay put. Like that la my schnauzer... hahaha... She has the tendency to freeze whenever she is faced with unfamiliar situation/items. She freezes when she wears something new (clothes/shoes). She freezes when we put something unfamiliar near her. She freezes whenever she sees something she doesn't want to see, e.g. the cane. :p
Rumba practically had her nose buried in the sand this entire trip trying to sniff out leftover treats.
Caught Aunty Ruby by surprise in the kitchen holding a meat cleaver. Scary... That's bad for the image Aunty!
We had a BBQ dinner that night and she bought us not one, but TWO cakes! One for Evie & Dennis' 9th Anniversary and one for Harrison & mine's birthdays. Sweet....!
Our group. Some new friends. Some old friends.
Us, smiling! Love this pic. Love the smiles. Harrison is smiling so happily cause he had his hand at the back of my head ready to push my head into the cake. Of course he failed. My neck muscle quite strong one ok... don't play play...
My family. Not too big.
We had a bonfire too and had a great time playing with it trying to create as much sparkles as possible. A lot of hard work ok.... Concluded that I am better with the triggers than the fire woods.
Rise & shine early once again the next morning. 6:30am. The fisherman were still at sea. Can you see the flickering lights in the distance?
Chased a crab back into it's hole. :p We tried to dig it out after this shot. It escaped to the sea so fast.
Nice morning right?
Mom joined us too on this second morning. We decided to explore the stretch of beach on the right (towards Club Med).
Again, pretty purple flowers. Love this shot. On this second morning, I got lazy. I brought only my 55-250mm lens out. Thus have to stand quite a distance to shoot my objects. :p
Sunrise finally.
My girlfriend Evie, who is also from Kluang (found out only much later into our friendship), same housing estate some more - the Lian Seng Garden, where all the 'happening' Kluangites used to lived! :p
Out of nowhere, a fabric umbrella stood. Nice prop though.
A stray appear out of nowhere too walking alongside wanting to play.
Which, suddenly sprinted away. Must have heard his master calling.
This is purely trying to be artistic only. :o
That's Princess. Aunty Ruby's new labrador puppy. :) Super cute.
Golden shimmery paradise.
Went for a dip after breakfast and had the whole beach to myself. Picture above show the stretch to my left.
And this, the stretch to my right.
For that morning on 9th of August, I can pretend I am Princess Gladys and I owned that beach. Hehehe..
Alamanda, the room we stayed in. RM130/night.Our marks.
p/s: Coming up next, my first treasure hunt which is taking place in 5 hours time. *squealing in excitement* Need to hit the bed now. Goodnight!

Lovely!!! Absoultely lovely....I, too love the pix of Harrison and Sunshine sitting side-by-side.
pretty cool huh..?
gladys,
the wild boar is a very strong animal. Once they target you, they will chase you and kind of "bang on you". I learnt this from my father. He go for hunting frequently.
Love this post! I feel that i have been to Ruby's resort already!
Hey Kamyean,
Am glad you enjoy this post ;) It's just a place I love going and by sharing it, I hope someone would love it the same way I did too.
Yeah, I heard about the ferocity of a wildboar too. Luckily this one just ran away. Lols.. Like I said, it is still a baby I think. Very small.
