The Fernandez & Enzo that is not a Ferrari

This entry is inspired by this other entry, 'The Woos" over at Alina Grace's Journey.  :p  I've tried to blog about all those outings with The Fernandez over the past week and I just don't know where to start!  I lost count how many times we met up!  Lols...
Picture above taken from wine.dine.everything fine.

It started off with a random "What you guys doing tonight?" over MSN last week and hours later, we were cozying up at Buonasera in SS2 for a makan (dining) outing together!  Besides spoiling us with all those good food (I had Rosemary Chicken and it was... heavenly), Enzo kept us very well entertained too.  It being a Monday, Enzo (the chef) was rather free and kept pulling up a chair to our table, telling us funny stories.  We laughed so much!
Before we knew it, we were already making another dinner plan for New Year day.  One last go at Enzo's turkey before they are all gone after the season.  Lols...
Besides the turkey, Enzo dished out a new batch of freshly baked 'lava choc cake'.  It was sinful, yes.  Still, all three of us had one each except for Alina.  She had a chocolate eclair instead.  The two men actually requested for extra chocolate syrup!!!  Unbelievable! Hehehe....
Somehow, thru that dinner, two meals was planned. A dimsum brunch with The Fernandez for the next day at 'A Little Dim Sum Place'...
... and a dinner outing together with Enzo for the day after tomorrow at 'Saffron'! Crazy eh? As if we live to eat huh? Lols... Seriously, all these have to end by this week. It is a lot of hardwork to burn calories you know! I was just able to fit into my bare midriff halter neck and now it is flabs that is baring all over again. Wtf? Lols...
As planned, met up at this quaint little restaurant in Hartamas called 'A Little Dimsum Place' the next afternoon.  The photos above are courtesy from Alina's Blog.  If you wish to know more about this place, click here.  The dimsum there is not bad at all. The 'siu yuk' (roasted pork), sunshine bun (no, not made of my Sunshine but some mouth watering egg yolk cream oozing out from it) and all the other varieties of dimsum were in fact rather tasty.  It doesn't have that fridge' taste, if you get what I mean.  Fresh!  It is just unfortunate that I over indulged during the festive season and was still feeling a little blek!
Though not really a big fan of durians, we find the Durian Crepe served there were actually pretty good! If you were ever there to try this out, request it to be served only when you wanna eat it.  It is best eaten chilled!
Having nothing else to do for the rest of the day, the husband enticed The Fernandez to a Volkwagon's showroom not too far away. Actually he just wanted to 'poison' Alina to get a VW. Hahaha... Anyway, the guys had so much fun test driving all the cars there.
From VW Golf GTI...
 to VW Scirocco.
From Scirocco, to VW Golf.

I hopped in on one of the test drive. They practically violated the car throughout! I should've video it but my hands were to busy holding on for dear life! Lols..... The salesman was sitting at the back with me and I thought he actually turned a little green at one of the cornering! :p  Even the VW Golf 1.4 is impressive enough!
While the big boys busy trying out the 'power' cars, this little princess too were busy trying out cars.  From VW Beetle to Polo and to don't know what else.  Hahaha... She simply love this cute red beetle!  She would actually climbed into the driver seat, closed the door, strapped on the seat belt before pretending to drive.  I finds it pretty amazing for a 3 years old!  Strapping on the seat belt?  And once, a lady actually went ooo aahhing at her and she just tell the lady that the car is out of gas!  hahahaha...
As all of us are a big fan of the au-naturale snow ice served at Snowflake, off we went, to their Kota Damansara Outlet to cool down after a hot day.  It is perpetually packed there.  We were lucky enough to get a table! :)
Love it cause it is not drizzled with rainbow colour syrups, it is not super sweet, it doesn't comes filled with weird coloured jellies like those in ABC (local mixed ice dessert).  Those served in Snowflake only comes in barley, sweet potatoes, taro balls and etc.  100% natural goodness.  Do try it out if you wanna taste something different.  They even have a website too!
Again, as planned, we met up with Enzo (the chef, not the Ferrari) for some Indian Cuisine at Saffron in Sri Hartamas the following night!  Eating again!  Hahaha...  And Indian food are very rich.  All those coconut cream, milk, meat, carbo... oh goodness.   Till now, I've yet to garner enough courage to step onto the scale. Those 'bare midriff', 'barebacks', bares everything definitely need to be migrated to the back of the wardrobe for time being!

Comparatively, I prefer those Indian cuisine at 'Passage Thru India' more.  It is not bad at Saffron, the food is good too, just somewhat a little something is missing.  But then again, the price is pretty reasonable.  So that alone is enough to offset the 'missing little something'.  The amount of food we had that night would have cost a bomb over at 'Passage Thru India'.  A whole table full of food to feed 5 adults and a kid came to only about RM250+ (approx. US$80).  Cheap right?
Enzo brought us to this place for dessert after that.  According to him, Faundry serves wacky cakes... lols... By the word 'wacky', I already have images of cakes in its' wackiest form conjuring up in my head!  Lols... Hmm.. like a 'Ferris Wheel' cake or a 3d clock shaped cake or a slice of cake with a huge colourful mushroom on top of it.  You know, those that would probably be served out of The Burrow (family home of the Weasley's in Harry Potter)!  Lols....
But no, it was not wacky in that Weasley's sense.  It was wacky cause they served mille crepe and not many places serve this cake!  :)  Hahaha....  We ordered a Vanilla Mille Crepe for Alina, a Chocolate Mille Crepe for myself, a Chocolate Moist for the princess, a Cheese Cake for the husband and Enzo, I couldn't quite recall what he had.  He gobbled it down too fast.  Didn't have a chance to ask what it was!  Lols...

Though I was being told by a friend last night that Foundry's standard has dropped tremendously as compared to a long time ago, I still find their cakes yummilicious the Monday that we were there!  Now I only can imagine what it might have tasted like 'a long time ago'!
The husband and I enjoyed their company very much this past week.  I know I had.  Especially with this little angel, Caitlin.  Alina & Mike's precious.  Though only 3, she is such a gem!  I never knew a 3 years old can be so well behaved like her.  Had so much fun teasing her and teaching her silly stuff.  Alina kept rolling her eyes at me... hahahahaha.....

Anyway, here are some info for you on all the restaurants we had terrorized during this festive season.  Hope it helps!

Handmade Cushion Pillow (For Mom)

Managed to drag myself out of bed at 6:45am this morning after rested for more than a month and apparently, my morning walk/run buddy and I completed 6.7km this morning.  Hmm... not bad at all. :)  And really hope I'll keep up with it regularly.  I am not really an early bird to start with.  More of those that says "you can have all the worms for all I care!"... lols.
And here to share with you, my first masterpiece from my new sewing machine, a cushion pillow for my mom!  Haven't thought of how to print on "My daughter made me this!" though.  Never master the art of embroidery. :p

Made with whatever pieces of fabric that I found while digging thru my fabric box at home :).  Yes, I have a box filled with bits and pieces of fabrics salvaged from my uncle's factory once upon a time ago, folded neatly at home.

So, what do you think?
Our new year was kickstarted with plenty of good food.  Seriously plenty.  At this very moment, I can safely say that I am pretty tired of food already.  Any kind of food.  Even if you put a lava choc cake in front of me now, I think I will probably puke.  That tired of food.

Just got back from another dinner hosted by Enzo, the chef at Buonasera, the Italian restaurant we used to frequent.  He invited us and The Fernandez plus few others who can't make it, out for an Indian dinner at Saffron in Sri Hartamas followed by dessert at Foundry in SS17 tonight.  I won't say I am full.  Cause that is not even closed to whatever I am feeling now.  It is more like, I am STUFFED!  Lols...

Thank You 2010!

2010 has been an eventful one for me.  Both good and bad.  Visited some new places and revisited some old ones.  Made some new friends, rekindled some old ones and lost one treasured one.
Visited the majestic Mt Kinabalu in January,
the idyllic Ruby's Resort in Feb,
and the city of cats, Kuching, in March.
Come April, visited the colourful bustling city of Ho Chi Minh,Vietnam,
relived my childhood in HK's Disneyland,
explored the alleys of HongKong,
and the intriguing Macau all in April.
In June, had a rather enjoyable first vacation with a gf to Bali, Indonesia and we had so much fun!
In the same month, did Broga at wee hour of the morning too for that beautiful sunrise.
Lost a really dear friend too and how my heart aches.
In August, endured a 3 hours ride to Spore with no airconditioner.  But it was worth it for I get to meet up with another good friend of mine. :D
Also in August, we headed back to Ruby's Resort to celebrate 2 birthdays and 1 anniversary!  It was awesome!  Still dreaming of those sun-less sunrise.  Hahaha...
Participated in my first treasure hunt to up to Cameron Highlands and had a whale of a time!!!
Took part in my first fun run of 5km in October organised by Nike.
Went on a day trip too to Malacca with my mad friends from The Deliquenos.
Appreciate the ancient structures of Angkor Wat, Cambodia in November
as well as those full of historical value ones in Beijing thru December. ;)
Other than all those travellings, 7 countries and 11 cities (I think), as I was browsing thru my old entries, I realised I've done a lot of others too.  The Batik painting, canvas painting...
the loads of salsa-ing that I've pumped in...
the few touge-ing that I've participated... plus all those mad parties... plus those bakings... and I realised now, what a mad crazy great year 2010 had been for me!!!

For 2011, it gonna be a year to lay low a little to recuperate ($$$ wise, lols) and be a little more domesticated. Yeah, I know, the husband gonna laugh his head off when he read this... For I also couldn't quite comprehend the sentence I just wrote.  Hahahahahahaha....

My Carebear Dog (Caredog?)

Finally groomed and bathed Sunshine awhile ago - 14 days after the operations.  I decided to do a 'love' on her back.  You know, like those on Carebears!  Lols...  This is super cute or what?

She was like a walking stink bomb at home.  Can't stand it any longer!  Though the vet said I can bathe her on Monday, but prefer to wait for couple of days more.  Just to be safe.  :p  Her wound are fully healed and all thread have been removed last week.  Still, I am very careful around her tummy area.  In fact, I rather not touch them for time being.  Kept having vision of it breaking open in my mind.  Scary...lols!

She is back to her normal self already.  Screaming and running.  I am so glad!  Didn't know doggies heal that fast.  Amazing!  But still need to keep her 'halo' on.  Will see what the vet advise this Friday when we bring her back for vaccination.

"Everything" by Misia

I finally found this song after looking high and low for the past forever.  I have had this song in my Ipod for the last 8 years.  But I know neither the name of the song nor the artist.  Presenting you, "Everything" by Misia.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

Christmas & Winter Solstice *burp!*

Happy Christmas people!  :)
Christmas started pretty early for us this year.  Our first Christmas dinner was on the 18th (a week prior to xmas) at Modesto, spent with good food and good-er company of our salsa friends... hahaha.. ya.. good-er.  New word before end of 2010.
Throughout the Festive Season, it was just continuous feasting.  Oh boy... With all those yummy food, I think I've piled on some extra kilos.  My poor dance partner would have to suffer when the training start next year!
All these photos are courtesy from Alina and friends, which I stole them from their FB.  I was too lazy to take pictures.  Whenever there is good food and good company, photography is never a priority.  Hehehehe....  Good food come first.  Update on good gossips come second.  Photography comes after all that is done.  Lols..
Here are some photos taken with friends before the dancing start.  Actually it should be before my hair starts to get messed up with sweat!  Or that my face start to shine with all those...lols...
Alina and I.  From this photo, realized my hair had grown so long as compared to a year ago!  Time to do something about it.
We played secret santa for that party and my secret santa got me this!  A ticket to Aquaria!! Yippee!!!  Will head down there when the school holiday is over (so that I won't get squashed by parents & their kids), have a field day on my own, snapping away or even a little heart to heart with those sharks in the aquarium there :D  *excited*
Next was the party with The Deliquenos at Zouk Cafe in The Gardens on 21st.  The Deliquenos, is another bunch of salsa friends whom I met thru another dance school near my house which I joined last year for couple of months.  This bunch is the real crazy and fun ones.  Despite of the crappy food served here (the crappiest of the crappiest) and the crappy service, we all had so much fun.  As you can see, our theme for the night was green shirt, blue pants and a red santa hat!
I had seafood aglio olio or something...  it looks good.  But it doesn't taste good at all.  Pretty spicy too.
The husband's carbonara fettucine or something.  So-so only.
Cheers!
We each brought a gift worth exactly RM15 for gifts exchanging.  Not a cent more, nor a cent less.  It gotta be exact RM15.  That's the rule for the gift!  I bought two lovely diaries from Loccitane, RM15 x 2, one for the husband and one for myself to be brought with us to the party for exchange.
In return, I got a 'good luck' cat!  Just in time for Chinese New Year!  Hehehe.... Trying to balance luck above my head in the above picture!
The husband got this mini exercise ball.  It was all in pink and I couldn't resist and tried to inflate it immediately.  It was too cute to resist!  But now looking at this picture, I think I am cuter than the ball... lols... the husband have no eyes see (mo ngan tei).... hahaha...
There we are, despite of the crappiness, we had so much fun.  Love this picture.  Very Christmasy.
And this is the cutest picture for the night.  Hehehe.... The consequences of not dressing to the theme.  Our friend here came in light blue shirt and trying to pass it off as light green!  We all had a vote and concluded that it is BLUE.  And so we stuff that mini exercise ball under his shirt, make him walk like a preggy woman all the way from The Gardens to Cosmic Bowl at the old wing!  Lols...
It was a hillarious sight!  And mind you, the pre xmas crowd was maddening.  Everyone was staring and laughing away.  Lols...
At Cosmic Bowl, it was a game of the fairer sex Vs the not-so-fair sex.  Lols...  It was one hell of a game with all those teasing and distractions.  We were like the noisiest group there... it was so funny.  I played an unbelievable crappy game that night.  Must be the crappy food and the crappy service at dinner thus the crappy game! Blaming blaming blaming...lols.

That night, besides celebrating Christmas, it was also a surprise birthday celebration for Penny.  Halfway thru our bowling games, WK took over the PA system of the arcade and announces the birthday celebration over the loud speaker followed by a birthday songs sang by Derek and out come the cake!  Penny was surprised!!!  She was like... "huh????.....".  It was good.  Simple and nice.
After the game, as we were walking thru the mall, decided to take a group photo at the already closed Bodyshop's booth.  Lols.  I thought this photo were rather cute too.
At the main concourse, where all the bears are put up as Christmas deco, which I would never get a chance to take a decent photo thru the mad crazy crowd during normal mall's hours.  I seized the moment.  I look so 'in love' in the photo.  The bear on the other hand look so BLUR...  hahahaha...
It was 'Winter Solstice Festival' (DongZhi 冬至) the very next day.  One of the most important festival celebrated by us, the Chinese.  It was also a time for family get together.  That evening, we gathered for a sumptuous feast (yeah, eat again!).  A typical full course chinese dinner - vege, fish, sharkfins, abalone & etc... *burp*  Lols... it was extra special cause mom was coincidentally in town.  So it was good to be able to celebrate this occasion together.  It has been awhile since we last celebrated major festivals together. :)  No, I didn't take any photos of the food cause like I said, when there is good food, that gets the priority first.  Lols...
Other than dinner together, another tradition for the special day is the making and eating of tangyuan (glutinuous rice balls) which symbolizes reunion.  I was too lazy to make them from scratch.  No, actually I was too busy with the party the night before and the working Wednesday, I bought those ready made ones from the supermarket instead.  Just left to boil some syrup with ginger and pandan leaves and throw those balls in to boil!  Voila!  Hehehehe...  Still, nothing even come close to the ones I used to have in Kluang.

Note:
I just learned from Wikipedia that this Winter Solstice is celebrated on a day when the sun is weakest and the daylight is shortest!
Rest for a day and here comes Christmas eve!  Nom nom time!  Again we are at Buonasera.  This has been our third year.  We simply love Enzo's turkey and Christmas pudding!  In fact, were just there again last night with The Fernandez (Alina and Family).
Enzo brought out the turkey for us to take a picture before taking it back back into the kitchen again to be carved and served.  Lols...
Menu for the festive season.  We finally tried their prawn bisque last night and I am still thinking about it now.  Lols....
The carved turkey.  The texture was moist and tender and the flavour was superb.  Ma ma mia!  Super love!  I think I wanna have another go at it before the year phase out...lols...
All licked clean!  Hehehe.... If whatever I cooked ends up like this all the time, I would be the happiest person on earth beaming from ear to ear!  hahaha...
And here comes the Christmas pudding!  Super moist fruit cake in some cognag gravy plus a vanilla ice cream on the side!  *gulp*

This year, everyone came equipped with presents!  We were so excited and immediately exchanged presents the moment we sat down.  Hehehe.... I got mom and mom-in-law a Frances Yip's CD, dad-in-law a collection of oldies, sis-in-law a bracelet, bro-in-law some stuff from Bodyshop and 2 cousins, those handmade boxes of mine that was filled with eclairs!  Last year, I got the husband a Garmin GPS.  This year, I wanted to get him an Iphone4.  Unfortunately, they are out-of-stock everywhere.  Just too bad... :p *rolling eyes*... hehehehe....

Other than the few presents I received, I love this the most!  It was from mom and believe it not, she lugged it all the way from Singapore to Kluang to Kuala Lumpur!  Lols.... She wanted me to guess what it was and I simply couldn't guess it!  At the back of my head, I was like, don't tell me this is a doll house!  hahahaha...  She went on and said... "Go ahead think.  What is it that you wanted that is big?".  I was like... "hmmm... the biggest thing that I wanted is already walking around at home! (i.e. the husband)"... hehehehehe....
Amazingly, when the husband got home, he immediately got it right on a second guess!  He is good or what?!?  Mom said he knows me better than I know myself!  Hahaha.... how true!
So, here it is, my brand new Singer sewing machine which I so very LOVE. :)  I can start experimenting with new sewing projects.  I told mom I gonna sew her a blouse (seriously, I know nuts about sewing! Lols...).  She said as long as it is printed with "My daughter sew me this", she will wear it.  Hahahaha...
